We had a lovely 3 night stay at the B n B. The B n B itself is clean, nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. Every morning we were served the most delicious breakfasts - more food than we could eat! Ann was very friendly and happy to chat and make us feel welcome. We would definitely recommend and will stay again next time we are in the area.
Thank you!

A really lovely B&B. Ann and Danny made us feel very welcome.
You will not get a better Full English breakfast anywhere
Melmerby itself is beautiful
We were cycling the C2C. The ride from Melmerby to Hartside summit was the highlight of the whole trip. It is just under 5 miles of continuous climbing but the gradient is incredibly constant and allows you to get into a lovely rhythm- almost like a zen state of cycling. It did help that it was sunny, with fabulous views and a gentle tail wind.

Another delightful visit to Ann and Danny's B & B at the foot of Hartside in the village of Melmerby.
My cycle buddy and I cycled the C2C whilst our wives drove across the country visiting gardens and coffee shops.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Ann who made us feel so welcome and provided us with endless cups of tea and delicious homemade scones.
The bedrooms are attractive, comfortable and well equipped with thoughtful little touches such as fresh milk, dressing gowns, free wifi, hairdryer and tv.
Ann booked a table for us in the local pub for an enjoyable evening and meal.
Breakfast was incredible with a large choice of fresh ingredients and an amazing cooked breakfast to give us the boost to climb Hartside Hill.
This is my third visit to Ann and Danny's. The first was whilst Cycling the C2C in 2015. I so enjoyed the visit that I took my wife back there a year later for a two day break so when arranging a second C2C trip this year, Gate House B & B was the first accommodation to be booked and we were not disappointed. In fact our friends enjoyed the stay so much, they too are planning to return for a holiday without a bike!
If you are planning a visit to the area for whatever reason, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed if you stay with Ann and Danny.
It was the best B and B experience of our trip.
Thank you Ann and Danny, for your generous hospitality and another really enjoyable stay with you.

What an excellent website. Not only of your lovely home and accommodation but the extra details of the surrounding area gave us a real insight into things to do and places to stay. A real bonus when planning our holiday.

What a lovely welcome after a hard day's cycling, coffee and homemade scones, what more could you ask for! Anne and Danny made us feel at home straight away. Our double ensuite room was fabulous with lots of little extra touches that were much appreciated. Ann booked us a table for dinner at the local pub, which was great, just a very short walk away. After a great night's sleep our breakfast was delicious, I didn't want to leave, but sadly there was another hill to cycle up!! If you ever go to this part of The Lakes, you must stay here.

Nothing nicer than getting to Ann and Dan's BnB after a great hiking day in the Lake District. The most delicious breakfast and the comfy bed, the fresh flowers in the room, the beautiful decorated rooms! Everything is absolutely wonderful and I felt like home, or maybe even better! Thank you so much!!

"Anne & Danny, thank you so much for another excellent stay at short notice. Having arrived in the evening drenched right through from night riding up Hartside Pass, I was warmly welcomed, as before, Anne rearranged my evening meal at a nearby pub & the following morning she had dried my cycling gear & served me up a second to none full English breakfast which set me up for the next day of wet rides. A great friendly & calming stay, thank you. "

"Arriving at Gatehouse B and B after a long hard hot day on the bike , we were greeted by Ann with a lovely warm welcome and tea with home made scones. The stay progressed from there inclusive of a lift to a pub by Danny who even picked us up again once we had a meal and refreshments! Quite simple a perfect stay with wonderful hosts. Definitely recommended. Thank you Don and Ann"

"As we arrived after a hard days cycle Ann invited us in with delicious homemade scones and a hot pot of tea to her beautiful courtyard garden. Ann and Danny couldn't have been any more welcoming or better hosts. We couldn't have asked for a better location, stunning, clean, cosy accommodation and a yummy breakfast. Thanks for everything!"

"From the moment we arrived Ann made us feel very welcome. We were met with "I'll just pop the kettle on" and we sat down to home made fruit scones - delicious! The house is quaint with lots of little ups and downs and nooks and crannies. We had the en-suite double which was lovely and clean with tea, coffee and shortbread biscuits which our son loved. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B."

"A really nice place to stay: nice room, we slept very comfortable. Ann and Danny are great host, they made sure we could eat in the pub in the next village, and they drove us there and picked us up (which was nice arriving late after a 100 km day of cycling..). Thanks again Ann and Danny"
